Profhilo® and Profhilo® Structura- Awaken Clinic

At Awaken Clinic in St Neots, Cambridgeshire our wealth of expertise in non-surgical treatments for the rejuvenation of ageing skin means we can offer the most innovative and state-of-the art procedures for exceptional results. One of our most popular injectable procedures for the healing and regeneration of the skin from within is called Profhilo®. It can be used on the face and body and now comes in two treatment offerings, Profhilo® and Profhilo® Structura.
Profhilo® is a skin rejuvenating, injectable bio-remodelling product containing a combination of ultra-pure, concentrated high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acids (HA). As the first BDDE-free stabilised injectable HA-based product, Profhilo® can help to combat the many signs of superficial skin ageing. HA is a natural sugar found in the body, responsible for hydrating and cushioning the tissues. HA starts to deplete as we age (from the age of around 20). As HA diminishes, the skin loses essential hydration, leading to those common signs of skin ageing such as skin sagging, creping and wrinkling. The HA found in Profhilo® helps to replace our natural HA and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, as well as attracting water molecules back into the tissues. Profhilo® can be used anywhere on the face and body that requires skin replenishment and firming.
Profhilo® Structura is the newest product in the Profhilo® range and where Profhilo® works in the superficial skin layers, this product is placed within the deeper, subcutaneous fat layer, to restore and reposition fat pads that have been compromised during the ageing process. Profhilo® Structura helps improve lifting and contouring of the deeper dermal tissues. This is more suited to those who are seeking more structural support for their facial contours.

Profhilo® and Profhilo® Structura both offer varied benefits for the skin and subdermal tissues and are suitable for most patients who feel they would like to improve their overall skin quality or facial contours. Commonly referred to as ‘liquid skincare’, Profhilo® makes skin feels plumper and more hydrated, often even after just one treatment. Lines and wrinkles become less noticeable and the skin takes on a healthy glow. Profhilo® Structura is a deeper sculpting and lifting treatment for patients who are experiencing more significant signs of ageing, such as mid-facial hollows and fat loss within the mid to the lower face. It gently activates facial fat cells so that they behave more like they did in youth. Fat pads are regenerated and the shape of the face is lifted and restored.

Patients who are experiencing slightly more advanced signs of facial ageing, such as hollows and lower face skin sagging, as well as those who wish to re-sculpt specific areas which have lost fat distribution, such as the cheeks.
With both treatments, two initial sessions are usually recommended, spaced a month apart. For more significant facial ageing a further treatment may be required. Results can be maintained with a single treatment every three to six months after your initial course of sessions. We will advise you on the estimated number of sessions which may be required in your initial consultation.
There is no clinical downtime associated with Profhilo® (a period of time needed for recovery at home) and you can return to your daily routine immediately after receiving the treatment. However, you may experience some small lumps at the injection sites, tenderness and redness for a few hours, post treatment. These reactions are normal and will subside naturally, following your session. Specific aftercare instructions will be offered to you, after your treatment.
Profhilo® can be combined with other injectable and device-led treatments but may be offered as the first step to improving overall skin quality, before embarking on further injectable treatments. Of course, Profhilo® and Profhilo® Structura can be used in conjunction for a fully holistic approach to combatting the signs of skin and facial ageing.
Initial results can be seen at around eight weeks after your initial Profhilo® treatment course and can last anything up to 12 months before maintenance treatments are recommended.
